Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the most common questions about Convergo, the app that finds where to meet when your group flies from different cities. For the full walkthrough, from the steps to the modes, see How it works.

The basics

What is Convergo?

Convergo (convergo.app) is a free web app that finds where to meet when a group flies from different cities. It weighs each person’s price, travel time, stops and waiting, then recommends the most balanced destination for the whole group, from 2 to 8 travelers, with each person’s itinerary.

What is a fair meeting point?

A fair meeting point is a destination where the travel burden (cost, hours, stops and waiting) is shared evenly among everyone, not just the one with the lowest total price. Convergo favors destinations where nobody pays or travels much more than the others.

How does Convergo choose the destination?

Convergo collects fares from each departure airport to the possible destinations and turns price, travel hours, stops and waiting into a single cost per person. It then ranks destinations by the group’s overall cost and by how evenly that cost is shared among the travelers.

How many people does it work for?

Convergo works for 2 to 8 travelers, each with their own departure airport. Add everyone’s city, choose dates (a flexible window, exact dates, or rules like “leave Friday, return Sunday”) and, if you like, a budget per person or direct flights only.

What are the four modes?

They are four ways of ranking destinations. Balanced weighs group cost against fairness; Cheapest looks at the lowest overall cost; Fairest reduces the differences between travelers; Most time together favors destinations where the group shares the most hours. You can switch modes right in the results.

Prices and booking

Are the prices live?

Results use recent cached fares, which can change. For recommended options Convergo can run a live price check before you book, and every itinerary links to the sites where the final fare is confirmed. Always check the price on the booking site before paying.

Can I book on Convergo?

No: Convergo doesn’t sell tickets. Every itinerary links to Aviasales and Skyscanner, where you book and pay directly. For your chosen destination you’ll also find ideas for things to do together, with links to Tiqets, Klook or GetYourGuide. For sleeping, the stays link goes through Stay22 and opens a booking site such as Booking.com. The final prices are always the booking sites’ prices.

Is Convergo free? Do I need an account?

Yes, Convergo is free and works without sign-up or accounts: open convergo.app, choose where and when, add the departures and start the search. There are no paid plans and no locked features.

How does Convergo sustain itself?

Through affiliate links: links to Aviasales, Tiqets, Klook, GetYourGuide and Stay22 (stays) carry a partner code, and if you book there, Convergo earns a small commission at no extra cost to you. The ranking of destinations never depends on commissions: the order is decided by the engine alone.

Use cases and options

Does it work for a long-distance couple?

Yes. Enter your two departure cities, pick the Most time together mode and set a travel rule, for example leaving on Friday and returning on Sunday in the months you prefer. Convergo suggests the destinations where you arrive earliest and leave latest, with each person’s price.

What about a family spread across countries?

Yes: it’s one of the most common cases, for example for the holidays. Each branch of the family enters its own airport; Direct flights only avoids layovers for anyone traveling with children or older relatives, and the Fairest mode keeps one branch from shouldering almost all the travel.

Can I use it for a team or an offsite?

Yes, up to 8 participants: it’s a quick way to pick an offsite city without spreadsheets, with each person’s cost and travel hours. For companies that want extra help there’s Convergo for teams, with a contact request.

What are travel rules?

They’re a way of describing dates without fixing them: for example “leave on Friday, return on Sunday” in the months you choose. Convergo searches every departure that matches the rule and compares the possible weekends. They’re useful when the group is flexible about when, but not about the kind of trip.

Does Convergo consider trains or driving?

No, for now Convergo works on flights only: the engine compares air fares, flight hours, stops and waiting. If your group lives in the same region and can meet by train or car, a tool designed for that kind of trip is a better fit.

Privacy and transparency

What data does Convergo collect?

Convergo doesn’t require an account and uses no profiling, advertising or analytics cookies. Travelers’ names are never stored; searches are kept in nameless logs for 12 months, to run and improve the service. All the details are in the privacy policy.

Is Convergo related to other companies called Convergo?

No. Convergo (convergo.app) is a web app for finding where to meet when a group flies from different cities, built in Italy by Francesco Mollica. It has no ties to the science communication agency at convergo.com, the sales consultancy at convergo.co, or the insurance broker of the same name.

Which languages is Convergo available in?

Convergo is available in English, Italian, French, German and Spanish, with one address per language (convergo.app/en, /it, /fr, /de, /es). The site never switches language on its own: it offers the change and leaves the choice to you. The privacy policy exists in all five languages too.
